Progress is highly promising but slow. The cost of the research is high, and what is true for one breed may not apply at all to another breed. We continue to find disease risk genes and mutated targets for new therapies. I expect this will continue to accelerate as it has in human medicine.

TGen and the National Cancer Institute have taken initiative to study canine cancer. This program is conducted under the observation of clinicians, scientists and veterinarians to develop genetic screens, diagnostic tests and treatments to cure the disease. The study has been in progress and soon will come on conclusion. Genetic and environmental factors mainly effects on the sequential incidence of cancer, thus this new study will help to know much more about the disease.
