Question submitted by the audience in our recent webinar: Understanding Steroid Responsive Meningitis-Arteritis and Other Inflammatory Neurological Disorders of Dogs:

Does SRMA affect a dog’s lifespan? Do you think early diagnosis and treatment of SRMA makes a difference?

Answer by: Karen R. Muñana, DVM, MS, DACVIM (Neurology):

SRMA should not have an impact on a dog’s lifespan. Early diagnosis and treatment can help prevent a dog from developing a more severe, chronic form of the disease that is accompanied by neurological deficits.
