Most of us know to train our puppies for some crash/boom noises while they are young, but how do you condition a puppy for fireworks and or other BOOM sounds that you can literally feel the sound waves for?
That is always a challenge! We can carefully use quiet fireworks like sparklers to add the scent (use them in the backyard and douse them so the scent is left behind), pair jumping, light window rattling, etc. in the training process. Unfortunately, sometimes that is the best we can do! I do have a baseball stadium near me and can work dogs at a distance on nights they set off fireworks. Storms unfortunately don’t cooperate.
