Brief Bio (include professional interests, hobbies, etc.):
Dr. Jenny Bennett grew up outside of St. Louis, Missouri, and moved to Georgia in high school. She started her undergraduate training at the University of Georgia and worked as an assistant at both a small animal practice and a cat-only animal shelter in the Athens area. It was during this time, and by rescuing 3 kittens, that she developed her love of veterinary medicine along with a special fondness for feline medicine. She moved to Raleigh in 1999 and completed her undergraduate degree at NC State in 2003 while working as a veterinary assistant. In 2004, she was offered admission to the College Veterinary Medicine at Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, California. She and her husband packed up their 12 cats and 2 dogs and started out for an adventure in southern California.
While in veterinary school, Dr. Bennett was active in the Association of Shelter Veterinarians and the American Association of Feline Practitioners. She received her DVM degree in 2008 and she and her family returned to the Triangle, where they fell in love with Durham. Dr. Bennett has since worked in small animal medicine at a few area veterinary hospitals and has obtained certifications in Fear Free medicine and the Human-Animal Bond. She is excited to put her skills to use in her own practice!
Dr. Bennett lives with her husband, 2 teens, 4 dogs, and 6 cats. She enjoys running, crocheting, and playing her ukulele.
