Long-term Use of Oclacitinib in Dogs

CE Event Information

  • Description:
Relief from pruritus associated with allergic skin disease can be challenging and may include the use of medicated shampoos, and antipruritic drug monotherapy or in combination with allergen-specific immunotherapy.

Oclacitinib is a Janus kinase inhibitor and is approved for use in dogs for managing pruritus and inflammation associated with allergic dermatitis. Until recently, however, little was known about the effects and safety of long-term use of this immunomodulatory drug in dogs with allergic skin disease.

The subject of this week's Evidence Based Update is the use of oclacitinib in dogs with allergic skin disease. Discussion includes:

    - The effects and safety of oclacitinib with long-term use in dogs
    - Recommended dosing of oclacitinib in dogs
    - Expected side effects / tolerability
    - Recommended monitoring of patients
    - Impact on the quality of life of dogs with allergic skin disease

    Running time:  15 mins
