Non-surgical Management of Cruciate Ligament Injury in Dogs

    Not eligible for CE credit.

In North America alone, over 270,000 dogs every year sustain cruciate ligament injuries. It's estimated that expenses related to these injuries cost pet owners over $1.3 billion. Surgical intervention is commonly recommended. Age and health of the pet or economic factors can impact the care that an affected animal receives.

In this presentation Dr. Deirdre Chiaramonte discusses more about cranial cruciate ligament injuries as well as non-surgical options for managing dogs with this problem. The focus is on a multimodal approach that includes pharmacologic, non-pharmacologic, physical rehabilitation, and weight management strategies. Discussion includes pain management, therapeutic exercises, and an overview of the various integrative interventions available to help manage pain and promote healing.
