It Happened To Me And It Could Happen To You. When Life Happens And Derails Your Practice Career.

CE Event Information

  • Description:
Veterinary professionals can only do their job if they are physically able, and their health (physical and emotional) is truly one of their greatest assets. If they can't work, their ability to earn income is immediately affected.

The decision to purse a career in veterinary medicine is made early in life for many. When envisioning that career path, however, it's unlikely that most people even imagine adverse events that could interfere with their ability to perform the actual work associated with their chosen profession or specialty.

You don't know what you don't know ... until one day you do. Life happens, too. Most people don't think about the what ifs - like illness or injury - things that could potentially derail their career.

According to the Social Security Association, just over 1 in 4 of today’s 20 year-olds will become disabled before reaching age 67, and over 2/3 of the private sector workforce has no long-term disability insurance. Although employers may offer some type of disability insurance as part of a benefits package, it's important for veterinary professionals to understand their options for ensuring their personal protection in the event of unforeseen circumstance.

There's a lot of talk about the importance of self-care these days. This session will focus on one element of self-care that could be life-changing for every veterinary professional when the unforeseen occurs and life happens to them.

This session will include discussion on:
    - The potential impacts of illness and injury on a career in veterinary medicine
    - How to be proactive in promoting your physical and psychological well-being and preparing for the unexpected
    - Resources for ensuring personal protection and financial peace of mind in the event of disability
