What is recommended as for monitoring for therapeutic levels of anticonvulsants?
Answer by: Karen R. Muñana, DVM, MS, DACVIM (Neurology)
We typically monitor levels of antiepileptic drugs in the bloodstream. It is recommended that levels routinely be performed for phenobarbital and bromide, and performed on a case by case basis as needed for levetiracetam and zonisamide.
