Treatment of heart disease in dogs and cats is dependent on the underlying disorder and typically includes use of medications and/or modifications to the diet. In this live and interactive webinar, Dr. Eric Owens - a veterinary cardiologist - will discuss the important role of nutrition and dietary considerations for patients with different stages of heart disease including chronic valvular disease, dilated cardiomyopathy, nutritionally-associated diseases, and arrhythmic myocardial diseases. Discussion will include:

  • The rationale for focusing on diet and nutrition in patients with heart disease
  • The practical approach to dealing with nutritional excesses and deficiencies
  • The data and rationale behind using commonly recommended dietary supplements
  • The clinical approach to determining a nutrition plan for patients with concurrent cardiac and azotemia / renal disease
