Chronic pain has far reaching effects on both humans and animals, and the outward display of pain in dogs and cats is not always obvious. In fact, manifestations of pain in dogs and cats may actually mimic signs of stress or other behavioral disorders such as anxiety, fear, aggression, and house soiling. Chronic pain impacts behavior, emotional well-being, and cognitive function.

In this webinar, veterinary behavior expert Dr. Margaret Gruen discusses these impacts of pain on behavior and provides some insights into how these differ between dogs and cats. Her discussion also includes recommendations regarding a multimodal approach to treatment with medications and environmental modifications.
