Dr. Sheri Berger l VetVine: Dr. Matsuura, regarding this open-heart surgery for mitral valve repair, how many people are in the OR for this 8 hour procedure? How many doctors, how many technicians are required to to run this show?
Dr. Katsuhiro Matsuura: Usually we have around 10 staff members. This would include 2 perfusionists, 3 or 4 anesthesia staff, 1 or 2 operating room staff, and 3, 4, or 5 surgeons working in the surgical field.
