Regarding the addition of anti-seizure drugs in patients with refractory epilepsy - if a dog is refractory, do they still experience the side effects of the meds even if the seizure frequency doesn’t decrease?

Yes - the more drugs that are used the more side effects that we may see even if they do not decrease the seizures.
