VetVine Client Care

This question was submitted during a past webinar on the topic of Canine Epilepsy:
Question:
My dog was recently put on pregabalin for seizures (in addition to her other meds). Has this medication been effective in controlling or reducing epileptic seizures?
Answer provided by one of our subject matter expert panelists:
This is a medication that is very newly generically available and thus more afforable as an option. There is at least one study in dogs showing pregabalin's use for seizures. I have personally used this medication for patients where we are looking to help decrease seizures and pain in a patient with one medication. Though, this medication is typically used in addition to another anticonvsulsant medication.
