I like to get things done and feel like I am moving forward with projects and goals. Who doesn't?!
I have been experimenting with an online productivity tool called Todolist. Initially, I was afraid it would make my life more complicated. Instead, I am not having to spend time searching for scattered pieces of paper or sticky notes (where I captured my thoughts on what needs to happen tomorrow or next week). Like anything else, though, this system only works well if you set things up appropriately - this applies to any program. Here are some tips that I find helpful for achieving success in any program or endeavor:
So far, I am really liking this tool. I really appreciate having my "stuff" organized and easily accessible - all of my "to dos" are together in one place. I'm feeling more confident and less stress - I worry less about missing or forgetting something. Also key for me - I can end each day with a sense of accomplishment about what I did get done. I feel empowered for success as tasks are sorted and automatically set up for the next day. Another benefit is that this makes it easier for me to let go of work at the end of the day and move into play or rest. This is especially important when you work from home or remotely - that when you close your office door for the day, that you truly leave "work" at work and mentally switch gears so that you can refresh and recharge.
Explore what works for you. How do you switch gears at the end of a work day? What makes it easier for you to close your work brain down for the day and truly be present for those things that are nurturing of your wellbeing?
