VetVine Client Care

This question was submitted during a past webinar on the topic of Canine Epilepsy:
Question:
How about neurontin as medicine (for treating dogs with epilepsy)?
Answer provided by a subject matter expert panelist:
Neurotin, also known as gabapentin, is typically used in veterinary patients as an analgesic (pain relieving) drug. Ocassionally it can be used an anti-anxiety medication. This medication has not been found to be as effective as an anti-epileptic in dogs compared to other anticonvulsant medications.
