Imepitoin Availablity In The U.S. For Canine Epilepsy

Neurology

This question was submitted during a past webinar on the topic of Canine Epilepsy:

Question:
Is imepitoin approved for use in the US for canine epilepsy or is it still in the process of FDA approval?"

Answers provided by subject matter expert panelists:
It is FDA approved for noise phobia, not epilepsy. Hopefully it will become available soon.

It has been approved by the FDA for noise aversion / noise phobia in dogs but not epilepsy. At some point it may be available for potential off-label use.

According to the Boehringer Ingelheim representative I just spoke with, they have not officially launched Pexion in the United States yet. The drug has been FDA approved for anxiety conditions in dogs, but is not currently available yet for the U.S.

We also contacted Boehringer-Ingelheim regarding Pexion and they responded: “As of now, the US commercial operation has been given no indication of if, and when, Pexion will be launched here.”
