VetVine Client Care

This question was submitted during a past webinar (2020) titled: PU - What's That? Golden Retriever Pigmentary Uveitis:
Question: I took my dog to an eye specialist who said her eyes were clear and normal. The doctor suggested re-exams every 6 months. Do you agree? My vet said this seemed a little too often. Thoughts?
Answer provided by Wendy Townsend, DVM, MS, DACVO:
If a dog has a normal exam, I tend to recommend recheck exams yearly. If multiple uveal cysts are noted, then I recommend recheck exams every 6 months - possibly every 3 months if there is a history of PU in the family.
