Avoid These Common Missteps In Veterinary Dentistry

Maximize your care of pets with these tips from Dr. Boaz Arzi - a veterinary dentist and oral / maxillofacial surgeon:

 

1) Don't leave roots behind when performing extractions.

2) Make sure that sutures in the oral cavity are NOT under tension.

3) Electrocautery is a NO-NO - especially near teeth!

4) Maxillofacial trauma requiring surgery is urgent but NOT EMERGENT - wait 24 to 48 hrs if necessary to ensure they are stable for anesthesia.
