Intervertebral disc disease is one of the most common diseases to affect dogs and is the most common neurological problem seen by veterinary practitioners.
In this session Dr. Windsor provides a review of vertebral disc anatomy and function and the 5 types of intervertebral disc herniation seen in veterinary patients. This discussion focuses on the secondary effects of disc herniation, the associated epidural hemorrhage, and chronic changes and sequelae of intervertebral disc disease. A portion of this webinar will address the disease as it affects French Bulldogs and a pilot clinical research study utilizing amino-caproic acid for managing the associated epidural hemorrhage in these patients.
