Dr. Griffin received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Cornell University, College of Veterinary Medicine and completed a residency in dermatology and allergy from the University of California, Davis. He became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Dermatology in 1981. He has received the Stanford University School of Medicine Outstanding Veterinary Dermatologist Award in 1995 and the American College of Veterinary Dermatology Award of Excellence in 2001. Dr. Griffin is co-author of Muller and Kirk’s Small Animal Dermatology, editions 5 and 6 and co-editor of Current Veterinary Dermatology, The Science and Art of Therapy.
Since 1981 Dr. Griffin has worked in private practice in southern California and was the founder of the animal dermatology clinics which are specialty hospitals dealing with dermatology, allergy and otology exclusively. These clinics now serve 7 full time locations in southern California and the southeastern United States, with several satellites. There are 23 full time veterinary dermatologists, 17 are members of the American College of Veterinary Dermatology.
